On April 26, Hyosung held 2019 1Q Proud Hyosung-er Awards at the head office in Mapo and granted prize money and plaques to the winners General Manager Kim Yong-man of Hyosung Tokyo’s Chemical Sales Team and General Manager Jeong Sang-yoon of Hyosung Russia in the marketing category and General Manager Kim Byung-hoon of Circuit Breaker Advanced Development Team of Electricity PU Changwon Plant in the technology category. Proud Hyosung-er Awards are given to the employees who achieved the best outcomes in each quarter. In the first quarter of this year, the winners were selected in the marketing and technology categories. after a thorough evaluation.


On the same day, the 2019 2nd talks with the management were held with the attendance of executives and team managers in Seoul and Incheon to share the management status of the group.

China's Jiaxing Economic Development Zone Officials Visit Mapo Office



On April 12, officials of China's Jiaxing Economic Development Zone visited the Mapo office. During a meeting, the two sides discussed directions for future development and agreed to solidify cooperation with authorities in Jiaxing, which is Hyosung's base for global management. We hope that this meeting will help Hyosung to further strengthen its global network and competitiveness.

Introduction of Smart 'Document Centralization System'



Hyosung Group held a presentation on its introduction of "ECM-Document Centralization System" at the Mapo office on April 18. With the management of Hyosung’s companies in attendance, ways to share information and build knowledge assets were explained. This system is expected to lead to changes in ways of working through smart work environments and help the group enhance its competitive edge by promoting collaboration and preventing the leakage of knowledge assets. On April 23, the "ECM presentation" was held for Hyosung employees. The group emphasized that the system will be effectively utilized when all documents at business sites are uploaded to the ECM server and encouraged active participation in the new system designed to boost competitiveness.

Hyosung to Establish Production Technology Center



Hyosung is promoting the establishment of a production technology center, which is dedicated to improving production technology. The production technology center has the purpose of linking the research unit Hyosung R&DB Labs and the production factories to enhance the technological competitiveness of the group and to nurture experts in core technologies. The center will not only review equipment related to production technology but also perform simulation and devise measures in response to any changes in design and specifications. Hyosung aims to establish the center in June with about 25 employees, including researchers at Hyosung R&DB Labs as well as technical and production team members of the textile, industrial materials, and chemicals plants.

Hyosung TNC Holds Workshop with Nelly Rodi



On April 17, Hyosung TNC held a workshop with Nelly Rodi, a global trend consulting firm. With employees and 30 customer companies participating, the workshop offered an opportunity to predict the mega-trends and F/W fashion trends in 2020. Notably, the workshop exhibited fashion clothes produced by the fashion design center in an effort to facilitate understanding. We expect that the two sides will lead industry trends through continued cooperation.

Hyosung TNC Participates in ‘SaigonTex 2019’



Hyosung TNC, which is stepping up its foray into the Vietnamese market, participated in the SaigonTex 2019 exhibition held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 10. At SaigonTex, the largest textile expo in Vietnam with more than 30 years of history, Hyosung TNC drew attention by presenting a wide range of high-functional materials suitable for the hot and humid climate in Vietnam, which is emerging as a global market with fierce competition.

Gumi Plant Holds '2019 Organization Training'



Hyosung TNS held "2019 Gumi Plant Organization Training." Gumi Plant employees gathered in Seongju,  Gyeongsang-buk do on April 12 for the two-day training, where they understood the value of their work and communicate as "one team" to create synergy effects. We look forward to the bright future of Hyosung TNS that will drive change.

Hyosung Heavy Industries Participates in ‘GRIDTECH-2019’ in New Delhi, India



Hyosung Heavy Industries participated in Grid Tech 2019 held in New Delhi, India on April 3. With many global power companies in attendance, Hyosung Heavy Industries, which has been recognized in both the Indian public and private markets, garnered high interest from local buyers. Based on power equipment from the manufacturing unit in Pune that is leading the local market, Hyosung Heavy Industries will actively seek global expansion going beyond its leading position in the domestic market.

Ulsan plant Conducts 1H 2019 Top-Patrol



This spring, the Ulsan plant carried out 1H 2019 Top-Patrol, which is a thorough inspection of plant facilities intended to improve work environments as well as prevent industrial accidents and vulnerable non-conformities. Starting from Aramid Business Division on April 9, the inspection was conducted in the order of Technical Yarn PU, Tire & Industrial Reinforcements PU, and the management unit. All team managers, responsible persons, and the TPM office participated in the inspection of any non-conformities of the site facilities and the side rooms according to the "3 Jeong 5S" cleanliness and safety principles. In particular, a more intensive inspection was conducted on blind spots to enhance the effectiveness of patrol.

Changwon Plant Holds 2019 Junior Engineering Class for Elementary Students



2019 Junior Engineering Class was held for four classes of the fifth and sixth graders at Naedong Elementary School on April 9. In collaboration with Hanyang University, the Changwon plant has been producing kits that reflect products and technologies related to Hyosung Heavy Industries. This year, it developed an experimental kit for "hydrogen-electric vehicles and hydrogen charging technology." The engineering class invited two experts as the main lecturers while Changwon Plant employees including new employees participated as assistant instructors. During the class, students showed a lot of interest as they engaged in the experiment of separating hydrogen and oxygen and operating a vehicle with the electricity produced in the process.

Hyosung to Hold ‘2019 Green Earth Drawn by Us’ Contest



Hyosung is holding a contest titled “Green Earth Drawn by Us.” The contest is divided into the following categories: Solutions to climate change including fine dust, eco-friendly ideas related to the hydrogen economy or Hyosung’s businesses, and the new video category. Applications will be received from April 1 to May 31 through the contest website (www.hyosung-contest.co.kr). Any college (graduate) students in Korea can participate as an individual or a team (less than three people). For the idea category, the participation of one or more engineering students is mandatory. In addition to the total prize money of KRW 21 million, the winners of the idea category will be given additional points when applying for Hyosung Group.

Hyosung donates KRW 100 million for Gangwon Wildfire Victims



On April 12, Hyosung donated KRW 100 million to the Community Chest Of Korea for the victims of massive wildfires in Gangwon Province. The donation collected by the holding company Hyosung, Hyosung TNC, Hyosung Heavy Industries, Hyosung Advanced Materials, and Hyosung Chemical, will be used for the restoration of damaged areas in Gangwon, relief supplies for victims, and living expenses.

Hyosung Donates KRW 150 million for Medical Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities and Support for Their Families



On April 10, Hyosung donated KRW 150 million to the Purme Foundation, which supports the rehabilitation and self-reliance of persons with disabilities, as part of the group's aid program "Medical Rehabilitation of Disabled Children and Support for Their Families." For seven years, Hyosung has covered medical expenses for children and youths with disabilities who cannot receive rehabilitation treatment due to financial difficulties and support their families. This year, Hyosung significantly expanded its aid for the disabled children's non-disabled siblings so that they can receive psychological treatment and education as well as enjoy outdoor activities.

Hyosung Holds Appreciation Event for Korean War Veterans in US



Hyosung held an appreciation event for Korean War veterans and their families at the Marriott Hotel in Huntsville in the U.S. state of Alabama on April 4. This event is to commemorate the sacrifice of more than 36,000 U.S. troops who participated as the UN forces for the protection of the Republic of Korea. After becoming the first Korean company in the U.S. to hold such an event in 2013, Hyosung has held this event for seven years now. This year, Hyosung invited about 60 veterans and 200 families and related officials. Senior Vice President Lee Jong-bok of Hyosung USA said, "I express my deep gratitude and respect to Korean War veterans who shed blood for freedom and peace and their families. Hyosung will never forget their noble sacrifices and devotion."

Hyosung Advanced Materials Holds ‘Field Day with Young Rak Ania’



On April 20, Hyosung Advanced Materials held “Field Day with Young Rak Ania" in an effort to encourage the rehabilitation of children with severe disabilities and create happy memories for them. The field day event has been held annually since 2014. This year, 20 employees of Hyosung Advanced Materials visited Young Rak Ania and engaged in various activities while providing physical assistance for handicapped children.

Hyosung TNS Employees who were Promoted in 2019 Volunteer to Deliver Briquettes to Those in Need



On April 23, 30 Hyosung TNS employees who were promoted in 2019 volunteered to deliver 10,000 briquettes to low-income families and the elderly living alone who suffer energy poverty, together with a briquette charity church in Dongducheon in Gyeonggi Province. The participants delivered briquettes even to those who live in narrow alleys that are not accessible by cars. Through this first-hand experience, they were able to practice corporate social responsibility and love for their neighbors.

Gumi Plant Provides a Helping Hand to Its Sister Village of Saenamgol



Upon entering the busy farming season, the Gumi Plant visited its "One-Company One-Village" sister village of Saenamgol, in Jisan 2-ri, Ian-myeon, Sangju-si on May 2 to provide helping hands for seedbed work. Employees of three PUs rolled up their sleeves and carried seedbeds that can be sowed in the field of 31,000 pyeong.

Changwon Plant Provides Help to Its Sisterhood Village of Sinchang in Haman-gun



On April 19, the Changwon Plant provided a helping hand for residents in its "One-Company One-Village" sister village of Sinchang in Haman-gun. Among the 30 employees participating included all members of Base Technology Team led by Team Manager Hong Seong-dae. In 2007, the Changwon Plant has established a sisterhood relationship with Sinchang Village, which is the birthplace of Hyosung Group founder Cho Hong-je, and run a support program for the village. During the busiest farming season, Changwon Plant employees visit the village to help elderly farmers who experience workforce shortages due to the aging rural population.

Hyosung Employees in Anyang Engage in Social Contribution Activities



On April 25, employees of the Anyang Plant, R&DB Labs, the Power & Industrial Systems R&D Center, and Human Resources Development Center conducted cleaning activities in areas from the main gate of the Anyang Plant to Hogye Park. As part of the group’s social contribution activities, Hyosung employees in Anyang engage in cleaning activities near Anyangcheon Stream and Hogye Park each month. They are taking part in various social contribution activities including holding a festival for the public in the Azalea Garden of the company. The festival was visited by more than 30,000 citizens.

Some Sevit to Hold Its Second Spring Flower Festival ‘Sevit Spring Blossom’



Some Sevit will hold a spring flower festival titled "Sevit Spring Blossom" until May 26. The Sevit spring flower festival which was first held last year received a lot of attention as it attracted a daily average of 3,000 people during the weekdays and more than 10,000 people during the weekends and holidays. This year, Some Sevit is decorated with spring flower pots inscribed with sense-awakening messages, a garden with 3,650 LED roses which symbolizes blossoming love every day, and a tunnel adorned with red roses, inviting visitors to a spring-filled atmosphere once again. During the festival, "Sevit Flea Market," where merchants sell their handmade goods, is held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On weekend evenings, visitors can also enjoy free busking performances of talented indie musicians.
